A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. The decayed tooth material is first removed, then the affected area cleaned, and then the cleaned out cavity will be filled. Decay is not the only reason you may need a filling, sometimes cracked or broken teeth can be filled as well. Tooth fillings are a good option as they are able to blend in with your surrounding tooth structure. This gives your teeth a natural appearance and the filling goes unnoticed.
WHAT ARE THE MATERIAL USED FOR FILLINGS?
Materials that are used for fillings range from gold, porcelain, composite resin and others. However, our clinic is a mercury free dental clinic so we do not use amalgam as we want to prevent any mercury poisoning in our patients with their dental fillings.
